A Message from Our Team

The Environmental Awareness Club at Framingham High School was founded in 2018 by a group of environmentally concerned students and faculty. We work to bring awareness to environmental issues through education and outreach. Our club members meet with various school leadership teams to develop and implement more sustainable options in our district and with community members to help improve the health of the environment in Framingham. It is our hope that if we continue to educate students, staff, and community members about the impact their choices have on the environment we will inspire positive changes that will lead to a brighter tomorrow.

Sapling Information

Saplings will come as bareroot saplings. This means they are dormant until they are planted and typically bloom 4-6 weeks after being planted. Here is an example of what bareroot saplings look like.

For more information about the saplings and for resources about how to plant and care for them, visit the Tree-Plenish Resource page.

Emily Rathmell

Hi! I am a co-advisor of the Environmental Awareness Club at Framingham High School. As an environmental teacher and nature lover, I strive to educate my students on the importance of preserving, appreciating and enjoying what the environment has to offer. When I’m not in the classroom, you can find me at the beach, on a trail, or somewhere else outdoors!

Rebecca Maynard

Hello! I am a co-advisor of the Environmental Awareness Club at Framingham High School. I have been teaching high school science for well over a decade. I am blessed to teach and advise talented students who are passionate about protecting our environment. They inspire me every day! I love nature and one of my favorite activities is to hike with my husband and dogs. Nature truly does fuel the soul and it is so important that we do our best to preserve the beauty that surrounds us!

Carly Nestor

My name is Carly Nestor, and I am a senior at Framingham High School and co-outreach officer for the Environmental Awareness Club. When I’m not in school rehearsing with the FHS Drama Company or having environmental meetings, I am most likely at home spending time with my two cats, playing piano, or listening to music. My favorite pastime is taking long walks in the state park that is connected to my backyard! I am beyond excited to work with Tree-Plenish this year in collaboration with Framingham High School. Having interned with them this past summer and now actively working on the team, I am so happy FHS is taking steps toward a sustainable future within our community with the help of this amazing organization.

Kiran Subramanian

Hi! I am a junior at Framingham High School and co-outreach officer for the Environmental Awareness Club at school. I love spending time outdoors and especially like going on long trail runs, hiking, and swimming. I am very excited to work with Tree-Plenish to make our community a more sustainable place and to further educate myself about local environmental issues.

Nate Fiala

Hi, I’m Nate Fiala, and I’m super excited to be a part of the Environmental Awareness Club this year! Nature has always been a major part of my life, whether it be while hiking and camping or just typing an essay outside. The Tree-Plenish project offers an amazing opportunity to give back, and I’m hoping to create a real difference.

Eliza Rubel

My name is Eliza Rubel, and I'm a senior at Framingham High School and co-president of the FHS Environmental Awareness Club. When I’m not at school or doing homework, I’m dancing at my local studio, reading, baking, or hiking. I absolutely love spending time doing activities or relaxing outside, and I am excited to help make Framingham more sustainable by participating in this Tree-Plenish project.

Ethan Cox

Hi, I’m Ethan! I’m a junior at Framingham High School and in addition to being a third year member of the Environmental Awareness I run track, make videos for the school news station, and play the drums. I’m really looking forward to the positive impact that the Tree-Plenish project will have for the community and promoting more environmental awareness around Framingham.
