A Message from Our Team

Options For Youth's Garden Group is hosting their 3rd community wide tree-planting event to offset the school's annual energy consumption. Our goal is to plant 302 saplings around the Victor Valley (Hesperia, Victorville, and Apple Valley), which would offset the amount of carbon our school emitted from electricity and gas last year. Our pick up event will be held on April 12th. Residents can support our mission by ordering saplings for $12 and planting them in your yards! Options For Youth will be reserving 200 free trees for residents that will be available on the day of the pick up event FIRST COME FIRST SERVE. We Look forward to making our community more sustainable!

Sapling Information

Saplings will come as bareroot saplings. This means they are dormant until they are planted and typically bloom 4-6 weeks after being planted. Here is an example of what bareroot saplings look like.

For more information about the saplings and for resources about how to plant and care for them, visit the Tree-Plenish Resource page.

Elizabeth Brejnak

Hello! I am Elizabeth Brejnak. I am an Independent Study teacher at Options For Youth. I am also the Garden Group Advisor. Garden Group began in 2019 and has grown steadily every year - allowing students to learn how to garden and earn community service. This is our third year participating in Tree-Plenish!

Stefanie Montoya

Hello! I am Stefanie Montoya. I am the Community Outreach Specialist for Options For Youth. I enjoy working with our students and working with a variety of organizations in our community. Connecting our students to our community is something that we strive for all year round and the Tree-Plenish event is a great community project that our students get to be a part of and bring to our community.

Bryan Gillespie

Hello! I am Bryan Gillespie. I am the Principal of Options for Youth Victorville. I believe that students need opportunities to get involved in their community and that these opportunities are a chance for them to make a difference. I was amazed at the collaboration between students and staff that went into making last year’s Tree-plenish event a success. It is events like this that allow students to feel like they are a part of something bigger than themselves, and further connects them to our school community.
